The Hotties Project
Aim: To create hot water bottle covers for the many people who struggle to keep warm in winter. A hot water bottle offers warmth and comfort, and this is a great way of showing love and care in a practical way. Invite your friends and family to get on board too!
Project Leader: Leigh Tecofsky & Kaye Milgate
Date: October 2018 – April 2019
How it will work: Calling anyone who loves to knit, crochet, sew or patchwork! This can be done at your own pace and in your own time, plus as a group we will meet socially once a month to encourage and inspire each other’s work. You will be using and suppling your own materials for making your hot water bottle covers, with the hot water bottles themselves being provided by Beyond Us. We aim to make as many covers as possible, and then get together to distribute them for next winter through a selection of local charities and organisations Curate currently partners with, including foster care agencies, emergency housing providers, and rest homes.
You can also get involved by donating wool or suitable fabric to the project.
Volunteers Needed:
+ 8 people with big hearts and crafty hands.
Once our volunteer target is met, the funding needed is:
+ $1,200 for 200 water-bottles
+ $100 for fabric labels which say ‘We believe in you’
How we're tracking...
This section will be updated to show how we are tracking with volunteer pledges as we progress. Once the target is reached, the plan will be reviewed and funding will be released for the project to go ahead.
